- Patients at risk
- Acquired valvular heart disease
- Valve replacement
- Structural congenital heart disease
- HOCM
- Previous endocarditis
- NOT indicated
- Dental procedures
- Non-dental procedures at following sites
- Upper/lower GI
- Urology, gynae, obstetric and childbirth
- Upper and lower respiratory tract (including ENT/bronchoscopy)
- Do NOT offer chlorhexidine mouthwash
- Investigate and treat promptly infection in those at risk of endocarditis
- OFFER an antibiotic that covers IE pathogens if a patient is at risk and is on antibiotic treatment because they are to undergo a GI or urinary procedure at a site where there is suspected infection
